Brooklyn Center Police Offering a Reward
The Brooklyn Center Police Department is now offering a $1,000 dollar reward to help solve a brazen robbery that happened during the middle of the day Monday in Brooklyn Center.
Police are calling the incident very violent. They are making it a priority to find the person who is responsible for assaulting a woman. Police say on October 22nd, a woman was walking home along 54th Avenue North and Humboldt. She had her three children with her. Police say it was around 1:30 p.m. and a man approached the woman and demanded her purse.
Police say victim struggled with robber.
“The victim then began to struggle with the suspect and ultimately the suspect was able to get the purse from the victim and knocked her to the ground,” explained Commander Richard Gabler.
Officials say at one point the man fired at least one gunshot, before getting in his vehicle and driving away.
“We did recover one spent shell casing at the scene of where this happened,” said Gabler.
Police are still trying to determine if the victim was actually stuck by gunfire or was hurt while struggling with the man. The victim was able to walk three blocks to her home to call for help. When officers arrived at the woman’s house, they found her in the kitchen with a head injury.
Police call this a rare event.
“There’s usually a prior connection or an acquaintanceship between the victims and suspects, and at this point in our investigation, we have not been able to determine any prior connection between these two,” said Gabler.
The woman and her children are okay, but as you can imagine they’re pretty shaken. There are no arrests in the case. The suspect is described as a black man in his 20-30’s skinny build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. If you have any information, give police a call 763-503-3243.
