Brooklyn Center Dealership Gives Away Car to Wounded Vet
A wounded combat veteran won a new car from Luther Mazda in Brooklyn Center on Tuesday. Tory Sailer signed up to win a new car at the State Fair.
Injured in Afghanistan
Army 2nd Lieutenant Tory Sailer deployed to Afghanistan where he was wounded in a mortar attack. The permanent nerve damage and migraines he suffered as a result of his injuries forced him to medically retire from the Army.
After leaving the Army, Sailer went to law school and just recently graduated. He’ll find out if he passed the bar exam next month. He and his wife are planning to start a family. Between that and tuition, getting a new car wasn’t on the table until he signed up for a chance to get one payment-free from the Military Warriors Support Foundation.
The group gives payment-free houses and cars to wounded veterans and gold star spouses. Thanks to a collaboration between Luther Automotive Group and Wells Fargo, the foundation had a brand new Mazda CX-9 SUV to give away. On Tuesday, Sailer picked up the keys at the Luther Mazda dealership in Brooklyn Center.
Sailer says he’s humbled and excited to get the car.
