Big Woods Classic Adds Courses, Goes Virtual
This year Three Rivers Park District’s annual mountain bike race, the Big Woods Classic, will take place virtually over a two-week period beginning July 11 and ending July 26. Elm Creek and Murphy-Hanrehan singletrack trails will be added to the event, so riders can race one course or all three.
“The Big Woods Classic has traditionally been an in-person event at Lake Rebecca at that single track. With the inability to do in-person events this year because of everything that’s happening, we’ve expanded the Big Woods Classic to include not only Lake Rebecca but Murphy-Hanrehan and Elm Creek,” said Brain Mastil, with the Three Rivers Park District. “Instead of a one-day event, we’ve expanded it to a two-week, three-weekend time frame. Weather-pending, we may end up extending that if the trails close due to weather.”
There are competitive categories for all ages and abilities. Riders have a bonus incentive to ride each of the three tracks. Ride all three courses and get an exclusive invite to pre-ride the brand new Carver Singletrack Trail hosted by One Track Mind.
You can race any time and submit your results though an online portal during the two-week window. Learn more and register here.
