Auto Repair Shop Permit Revoked
Brooklyn Park officials called it a difficult decision, but have decided to revoke a permit for an auto repair business. Two weeks ago, the city gave ‘M & R Auto Repair’ two weeks to clean up their property on Brooklyn Boulevard. The city says cars parked outside overnight, cars without license plates, and employee vehicles parked on unpaved areas were violations.
Council member Rich Gates says not much changed in two weeks.
“It doesn’t seem like the applicant wants to do anything. Its been a year. You can’t even clean up what you said you would in a couple of weeks since we last met,” said Gates.
Council member Susan Pha was hoping for better cooperation.
“I want to support our businesses here. I want our businesses to be successful and sometimes that means working with them but there has to be two people in this partnership to make something work,” Pha said.
Earlier, the owner said he didn’t expect the business to grow as fast as it did, and things got out of hand. The business has until April 16 to close.
