ATF: Fires ‘Intentionally Set’ at Golden Valley Building
Federal investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) confirmed that a January fire at the headquarters of a conservative think tank was “intentionally set.”
Several conservative organizations, including Center for the American Experiment, as well as TakeCharge Minnesota and the Upper Midwest Law Center operated out of the office building at 8421 Wayzata Blvd. It’s located just off Interstate 394 in Golden Valley.
Multiple fires were started in the building on Jan. 28, 2024.
According to the ATF, the fires were started on the first and third floors of the building.
The fires caused significant damage, displacing the conservative organizations from their offices.
“It’s kind of a reminder of the crazy circumstance that we’re in,” said Bill Walsh, director of communications and marketing for Center of the American Experiment in April. “That someone would actually take the steps to start an arson fire in your office and displace us.”
Previously, the Center for the American Experiment offered a reward of up to $100,000 for anyone that helps to solve the crime.
The ATF says the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
