Arts North International Exhibit Includes Local Artists
A new international arts exhibition is on display at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Works from across the globe adorn the 30th annual “Arts of the North International” galleries.
The artwork features pieces from 13 different mediums. That includes photography, sculpture and paintings.
Visual Arts Manager Jim Clark said the exhibit received more than 1,000 entries, the second largest number of entries the contest has received in 30 years. From that number, Clark said they narrowed it down to 156 to display.
Clark said there is something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for escapism or commentary, both can be found there.
“There’s a full spectrum of distractions. Being active in the arts is a great opportunity for some folks to escape, and for others to address the challenges many people are facing,” Clark said.
For those looking to support local artists, the gallery does feature art from Plymouth, Maple Grove and New Hope, among 40 different Minnesota communities. There’s also work from 21 states in the United States, and international work from Bangladesh, Japan and Canada.
People can view the gallery in-person every day until Feb. 22. It’s free to visit. You can also view the awards ceremony to see the winning works on the Hopkins Center for the Arts website.
