After Robbery Outside Brooklyn Park Target, Suspects Lead Police on Car Chase
Three suspects are in police custody after they allegedly robbed and assaulted a woman and led police on a car chase on Friday.
According to Brooklyn Park police, a woman called 911 to report she’d been pistol-whipped and robbed at the Brooklyn Park Target at 7535 West Broadway.
Police responded and found the suspects attempting to flee in a vehicle.
Officers spotted the vehicle near 89th Avenue and West Broadway, where they attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspects fled the scene.
The officers gave chase, following the suspects through an industrial area and onto northbound Highway 169 and eastbound Highway 610.
Police soon ended their pursuit as the suspects left the highway and started driving erratically.
“The suspect’s driving conduct became too dangerous when it exited northbound on West Broadway and the pursuit was terminated,” Brooklyn Park police wrote in a community alert.
Maple Grove police later spotted the suspects traveling westbound on 109th Avenue from the intersection with West Broadway. They disabled the vehicle near the intersection of 109th Avenue and Nathan Lane.
The three suspects ditched the disabled vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. They were arrested with the help of a Brooklyn Park K-9 unit. The Minnesota State Patrol, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office, and the Champlin Police Department also assisted during the incident.
