African Immigrant Organization Holds COVID-19 Vaccination Event
A Kenyan immigrant group called Mwanyagetinge says African immigrant communities are incredibly tight-knit. That’s one of the reasons why they are promoting an upcoming COVID-19 vaccination event.
“Being able to promote an event where we are trying to push toward that finish line, to try to get back to some sort of normal is critical for us,” said Huldah Momanyi, president of the organization.
Momanyi says COVID-19 has had a difficult impact on their culture. The goal is to have 200 people signed up to receive vaccines. The vaccination event in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health and Hennepin County will be held Sunday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center.
Besides the COVID-19 vaccination event, there will be other services available, like food distribution, dental checkups, education kits, COVID-19 saliva testing, and masks and hand sanitizers.
