A Winter Pivot: Maple Grove Ice Castles Open Extra Hours This Week Due to Warmup
Anyone excited to see the Ice Castles attraction in Maple Grove will have extra opportunities to stop by this week.
Because of unusually warm winter temperatures, the attraction will be open from 5:30-9 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will also be open on weekends. Typically, the castles are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays for maintenance.
Because of the uncertain weather forecast, Experience Maple Grove’s Executive Director Greg Anzelc said they want as many people to see the attraction as possible.
The castles are still intact now, and Anzelc says he recommends seeing them sooner rather than later.
“It’s a unique experience with the slides and the caverns and the ice bar we have here,” Anzelc said. “It’s just a different winter wonderland experience than a lot of people have seen in the past.”
The castles opened up last week. The attraction was originally set to be in town for 15 weeks. Now, Anzelc said they are hoping for five.
Maple Grove was originally expecting a $3-4 million tourism impact from the castles. The city won’t hit that goal, but Anzelc said tourism is still up in the city.
If your family has reservations for late February, Ice Castles will honor a trade for an earlier date, free of charge.
More ticket information is available on the Ice Castles website.
Anzelc said Maple Grove hopes to host the attraction again in future years.
