3 Local Festivals, 1 Fun Weekend
This weekend is a busy one for local city festivals. Whiz Bang Days, Maple Grove Days and Duk Duk Daze are all going on.
Duk Duk Daze
Among the new activities at Duk Duk Daze in New Hope is the Happy Tails Petting Zoo on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. There’s a $1 admission
“We’ll have horses, we’ll have sheep, some pot bellied pigs for the kids to go and pet,” said Brad Westlund of the Duk Duk Daze organizing committee.
There will also be new food vendors. The New Hope dance team will perform Saturday at noon at Northwood Park. Frankie’s pizza eating contest is Sunday at 2 p.m. at Northwood Park pavilion.
Whiz Bang Days
Saturday highlights at Whiz Bang Days include the Wicked Wort Brewing Co. Outdoor Tent Party from Noon to 11 p.m. The 6th Annual Talent Show at Sanborn Park takes place Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. And the 7th Annual Bocce Ball Tourney at Nonna Rosa’s is held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Whiz Bang Days Parade is Sunday at 3 p.m. starting in downtown Robbinsdale and ending at Sanborn Park.
Maple Grove Days
At Maple Grove Days, Saturday events include a Kids Fun Run at Central Park starting at 9:30 a.m. The route is just under a mile (0.8 to be exact). There’s also a Ninja Warrior Challenge Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Maple Grove Community Center parking lot. And don’t forget the Classic Car Show.
“The car show is along Main Street and is always a really good turn out. We’re expecting a lot of cars this year, so if you enjoy the classics they’ll be here,” said Deb Syhre, president of the Maple Grove Days Organizing Committee.
Fireworks
And last but not least, fireworks!! Duk Duk Daze in New Hope has them Friday and Saturday night. Maple Grove Days has them Saturday night, and Whiz Bang Days in Robbinsdale has them Sunday night.
