51st Wastebasket Revue Set to Help Osseo Kids
The Osseo School District is ready and raring to go with its 51st Wastebasket Revue. The theme of this year’s Wastebasket Revue is “It’s a Wonderful Show,”
and borrows bits and pieces from “It’s a Wonderful Life,” to provide a wonderful bit of entertainment.
“This variety show benefits students in the Osseo School District,” said fifth-grade teacher Schuyler Duel. “It provides scholarship money for students to further along continue their education and helps them with tuition and books and everything else like that.”
This year’s variety show will be the last for Kate Maguire as superintendent of the district.
“I actually play myself this year which is great because I don’t have to rehearse as much and I don’t have to practice as much,” laughed Maguire. “There’s years when I’ve been in the show where I get to play the superintendent and then there’s been years in the show where I play a particular character. Probably my favorite was when I played Cher a number of years ago and I actually sang a little tiny bit.”
This is Maguire’s 10th year doing the show and like many of the other volunteers, there is just something that keeps them coming back. They’re doing something right because so far they’ve raised more than $1.2 million of scholarships for 840 students.
This year’s Wastebasket Revue runs tonight through Sunday at the newly renovated Park Center High Auditorium. You can get tickets at Wastebasket Revue or at the door. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $6 for students in K-12.
