14th Annual Father-Daughter Dance Coming to Brooklyn Center Feb. 16
The Minneapolis nonprofit Positive Image is hosting its 14th annual “Father-Daughter Dance” in Brooklyn Center over Valentine’s Day weekend.
With the price of a ticket, father-daughter duos get a chance to dress up, enjoy food and music, and strengthen their relationship.
Positive Image Executive Director Terry Austin said his nonprofit’s mission is all about cultivating family. The group also puts on a mother-son event later in the year.
“There’s so many great fathers that don’t get the opportunity to actually have a moment with just them and their daughters. This is a great opportunity to showcase positive parenting, to showcase community, to showcase family,” Austin said.
Girls age 5 and older are welcome to attend. Not only biological dads are welcome, the event is open to any father figure: grandfathers, stepfathers or a family friend who acts as a father.
The event goes from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Heritage Center of Brooklyn Center. You can learn more about it on Positive Image’s website.
Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite for $65 each plus fees. Austin asks that father-daughter duos buy their tickets by Friday since no tickets will be available at the door.
Austin said the ticket proceeds go to cover the cost of the event. The remaining money goes to scholarships.
