When I first joined CCX Create, I wasn’t thinking about policy or governance; I was thinking about community. I came with a camera and a few ideas, and what I discovered was a space where people lift each other up, share skills, and tell stories that otherwise wouldn’t be told, like those we tell on Northwest City Politics. That experience continues to remind me why local media matters: it gives residents not just a platform but a sense of belonging.
Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the CCX Create Representative to the CCX Media Board of Directors. In this role, I’ve worked to ensure that the creative voices of our community are heard at every level of the organization. Through the Create Action Committee, I’ve helped guide our plan to expand training and make CCX Create a more inclusive and sustainable resource for residents, students, and nonprofit storytellers. I also championed Out-of-Area memberships, opening the door for neighboring residents and organizations to take part in CCX Create programs and strengthen our shared creative network, and I provided input into Create Reset 2026.
Serving as Board Secretary on the CCX Media Executive Committee has allowed me to focus on financial stability and member trust, advocating for transparent communication and clear fiscal notes that demonstrate CCX Media’s community value. During a year marked by financial strain and limited Executive Committee activity, I’ve continued to promote collaboration, accountability, and open dialogue to ensure our Board remains responsive to the needs of staff and our nine member cities.
If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for responsible stewardship, expand creative opportunity, and strengthen open governance. I would be honored to have your vote for re-election so we can keep building a stronger, more connected CCX Create for everyone.
