Robbinsdale Works to Update Residents About Solid Waste Hauling Change April 1
Robbinsdale solid waste collection customers will see a new provider take over on April 1: Republic Services. City staff continue to work with residents, the company, and the outgoing provider (Waste Management) to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible.

Republic Services has begun distributing new collection bins to customers in Robbinsdale ahead of its takeover of service on April 1.
“So far, so good,” said City Clerk Chase Peterson-Etem. “We’re dealing with any issues that have come in, which haven’t been very many so far, so definitely contact the city if you find something you think is out of place or something that hasn’t been delivered. We’re certainly wanting to work with residents to get them what they’re supposed to have.”
The city is educating customers about changes to service, including the collection of yard waste, which Republic will now provide with a separate collection bin, if customers want.
“On top of the bin that has been provided, residents can weekly put out up to five of the disposable brown paper bags (full of yard waste) with that,” said Peterson-Etem.
Also, he reminded residents that the city’s sticker system for collection of bulky items is also ending April 1.
“In order to get rid of bulky items like extra trash bags, a couch, furniture, that kind of stuff, you’ll contact Republic Services directly,” said Peterson-Etem. “Their number is listed on our website, and then each resident should each have gotten a welcome packet with their trash and gotten a nice overview of Republic Services and who to call for what situation and circumstance.”
He also pointed to the city’s website for a FAQ section all about the transition.
“It’s very thorough, and we’re adding to it every day, still, with new items that come up,” said Peterson-Etem.
