Robbinsdale MLK Breakfast Honors City’s Community Engagement Director
At Robbinsdale’s MLK Day Breakfast Celebration on January 19, the event honored several community members for their contributions to inclusion and connecting neighbors. Among those honored was the City of Robbinsdale’s community engagement director, Will Cardenas.

Robbinsdale Community Engagement Director Will Cardenas, right, is congratulated by Phillip Gray of the Joint Community Police Partnership at the MLK Day breakfast.
“I’ve seen him in action,” said Julie Ralston Aoki, part of the event’s planning committee and a member of the Robbinsdale Human Rights Commission. “He’s a bridge builder, he’s a community builder, again, he’s an incredible asset to our community.” She cited example after example where she said Cardenas helped connect people in need in the community with resources either from the city or in other sectors.
Cardenas, for his part, said he basically approaches his job and his life by trying to abide by the Golden Rule.
“Kinda going every day about just what you learned in school, even growing up,” he said. “It’s just like treating people how you want to be treated. Obviously, giving people ample and equal opportunity and just making sure people feel included and involved, especially in Robbinsdale, so I guess that’s how I go about my day and go about doing different projects as well.”
