Registration Now Open for Exciting Spring and Summer Rec Programs in Robbinsdale
Registration is now open for a variety of sports and other recreation programs offered this spring and summer by the City of Robbinsdale.
There are Fundamentals Camps, meant to teach kids about several sports at an introductory level, including pickleball, basketball, soccer, and flag football.
“We’re putting together the curriculum, we’re also hiring athletes from the local high schools as our coaches and our staff to work with kids,” said City of Robbinsdale Recreation Programs Coordinator Joel Ginn. He said there will be girls-only and co-ed camps available Fridays in June, July, and August.
“We want to provide an opportunity for the girls in the area and surrounding areas to try youth sports and try different things, because we noticed there’s a dip in numbers when we look at our girl participants in comparison to their counterparts,” said Ginn.
There is also baseball starting June 9th, with fundamental camps for kids ages four to six, and coach pitch and t-ball leagues every Monday for eight weeks. Ginn said the ever-popular soccer league starts in August. They involve weekly practices and games on Saturdays.
The city is also hosting a first-ever Dungeons and Dragons Crash Course, starting April 4 at Manor Park.
“It’s just a great way to learn Dungeons and Dragons and socialize with new people and just be in a comfortable setting with people that are trying to learn the game as well,” said Community Engagement Coordinator Will Cardenas.
Other community recreation events include: Bike Rodeo at Golden Valley City Hall on May 1, Walk with the Mayor (part of Hennepin County’s Step To It campaign) in Graeser Park on May 8, and Badges and Bobbers at Crystal Lake on September 6.
