Plymouth Installing New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
The city of Plymouth is supporting the rise of electric vehicles on the road by installing new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the city.
The city collaborated with Carbon Solutions Group (CSG) to bring the initiative to life. As part of the agreement, CSG will fund the total expense for the EV charging stations so there’ll be no cost to Plymouth taxpayers. Users will still pay a fee to utilize the charging stations.
The city has been strategically installing the charging stations across various locations in a phased approach.
“We’re expected to have 115 parking stalls in total by the end of the project at 13 different locations, and we’re hoping to complete it by the end of the fall,” stated Amy Hanson, Plymouth Fleet and Facilities Manager.
Five Public Locations Now Equipped
Five locations have already been equipped with EV charging stations: Plymouth City Hall, Community Center, Ice Center, Plymouth Creek Park and Zachary Playfield.
Hanson highlights the user-friendly features of the charging stations, stating, “All of our chargers have QR codes on them where allowed, allowing the user to download the app required for that particular station.”
