Playground Safety a United Effort in New Hope
There are 15 playgrounds in the City of New Hope, and according to city officials, they’re inspected quite regularly.
“We’re very proud of our operations manager and our park maintenance workers, as well, as they’re certified playground safety inspectors,” said City of New Hope Recreation Supervisor Aaron Thelen. “They come around the parks throughout the month, and every month our parks are inspected by our maintenance workers, so they’ll check and see if anything’s missing or broken as well.”
Still, city officials urge parents to keep an eye out for anything they may think is amiss at the city’s parks and playgrounds.
“Just be aware if there are things in the parks or in the playgrounds–especially if things are broken or missing,” said Thelen. “Let us know.”
You can always call the Parks and Recreation office or you can submit a report on the city’s 311 system.
Beyond that, Thelen encourages parents to always watch their children so they remain as safe as possible.
“We just love families and kids being able to come out and use them but also obviously use them with safety and caution as kids and family are out here. So, parents we just highly recommend you continue to supervise your kids and watch them as they play,” he said. “We want you to be able to have fun and be creative and use your imagination.”
