Osseo Police Looking for More Reserve Officers
Osseo Police Reserve Officer Jon Grimm is a cyber security expert by day, but many nights he spends patrolling the streets of the small town, helping any way he can.
“Very rewarding– it’s kind of a shake-up of what i do during the day,” Grimm said of the reserve police officer role he’s held since 2012. He was one of the first in the program that’s meant to add numbers and eyes on the streets during busy events like Mini Dazzle or other city-wide celebrations and when full-time, sworn police officers are busy handling other calls.
“Because Osseo is small in both population size and our department size we rely on the reserves pretty heavily for things like city events where we need a larger police presence and just don’t have the amount of sworn officers to be able to cover that,” says Officer Brett Letourneau. Grimm is one of four reserve officers currently, but LeTourneau said the department wants to add two more. They are volunteer positions, 10-12 hours a week.
Could Be A Good Fit
“If you have an interest in law enforcement, you have an interest in police work, and you are looking forward to volunteer your time and give something back to your community, this is a perfect way to do it,” said Letourneau.

“It’s given me a little bit more confidence to be able to talk with others,” said Grimm. “It definitely translate very well into the work that I do today.”
