Osseo Outdoor Ice Rink Offers Free Broomball Gear to Public
Move over hockey.
The sport of broomball is about to take over the Osseo Ice Rink.
In the warming house at the Osseo Ice Rink on 6th Ave. NE, there’s a couple of bags of endless possibilities to engage in some winter fun.

“Not many people have broomball sticks I assume,” said Ice Rink Attendant Jacob Wills. “So it’s good to be able to provide that for the community.” says Wills.
Wills is ready to loan out the new broomball equipment for free to anyone looking to try something that’s a little like hockey, but different.
“Instead of a puck, it’s a little mini soccer ball, said Wills. “And instead of hockey sticks you are using kind of broom shaped sticks and you are just running around boots on the ice.”
Families can check out the equipment whenever an attendant is available.
“A great opportunity for people to come out and have fun with their families and friends and what not,” said Wills.
While broomball may not be an Olympic sport, it still packs in some Olympic size entertainment for winter enthusiasts.
“As long as we are open, they can have as much fun as they want with our broomball sets,” said Wills.
The plan is to keep the ice skating rink season open for as long as possible.
According to Wills, in some years, it’s been open until March.
