New Hope Partners With Revolutionary Sports to Offer Programs for Children of All Ages
The City of New Hope has partnered with Revolutionary Sports for more than 20 years to provide a variety of sports classes and programs to offer kids as young as two the chance to try a new sport.
“Most of our coaches are post-college. They’re working professionals, and they’re just doing this as they’re ‘fun job’ two days a week, so they work two nights a week, usually in the community that they live or work in, which is rewarding,” said John Richardson, who founded the company 25 years ago. “When the kids see them in the stores or wherever they are in town, the kids get excited.”
In New Hope, Rev Sports offers sports including: archery, basketball, golf, pickleball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball, along with others as the seasons change.
“Because (the kids who participate) are two, three, four, five years old when they start our programming, if they have a really good experience, there’s a higher likelihood that they’re going to continue to come back,” said Richardson. “What I tell the coaches during the interviews is: most of these kids will not be playing this sport in two years, but if they have a really good experience with you, hopefully they sign up for another four-week session, and then they’ll come back and they’ll come back because of that coach.”
