New Hope Aquatic Park Offers Variety of Adult-Only Swimming and Classes
Swimming and cooling off at the New Hope Aquatic Center this summer isn’t just for kids. The staff offer a variety of adults-only activities and instructor-lead classes for adults all summer long.
“Knowing the importance of water safety and being able to swim, especially here in Minnesota, is incredibly important,” said Assistant Manager Cassie Baker. “Often times…people don’t know how to swim, and it’s important to know that. Even if you’re on the lake or anything, you’ve got to know those important things.”
In addition to children’s swimming lessons, Baker leads a water aerobics class on Sunday evenings at 7:45.
The pool also offers adult lane swimming Monday-Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Monday-Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There is also water walking in the lazy river portion, going against the current, Monday-Friday 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
“It’s a great cardio (and) respiratory workout,” said Baker. “You get everything from your arms to your legs to really just working on your breathing. Even water-walking, it may not seem too difficult, but once you’ve got the current working against you, you’re working on all of your abdominal muscles, you’re working on your quads, everything.”
