New Businesses in Maple Grove
“It’s always fun to see the excitement with new businesses opening in the community,” that’s according to Maple Grove Economic Development Manager Brett Angell. And there are several new businesses either recently opened, or that soon will open in Maple Grove, which is in stark contrast to city officials’ fears roughly two years ago when the Covid-19 pandemic first began. Angell says, “We anticipated with Covid that there would be up to 25% of the business closures that would potentially happen.” Fortunately that has not been the case, as Angell adds, “Actually we’ve seen a lot of new leases that have been signed. For the Shoppes, specifically, they recently had Planet Fitness open, and in the coming weeks they’re going to be seeing Restore Hyper Wellness, Kung Fu Tea, and then also Rustic Shack that are going to be opening, and that’s going to draw in a lot more traffic to the area, and a lot more excitement and visitors.” Angell goes on to say that the city is seeing retail growth across the entire Arbor Lakes area, “Looking at Main Street specifically we have Discover Strength that has opened, Max’s on Main which has recently opened, and The Good Clinic should be opening in the next two weeks. Looking at the Village at Arbor Lakes the final multi-tennant building is currently constructed, and Starbuck’s should be opening within the next few months.” And the vacant AMC Theater will be home to multiple new businesses as well. Angell says, “Floor and Decor is going to take the entire former AMC space, that entire building, and due to their lower parking demand as compared to a movie theater, it opens up some of the parking lot areas to be developed, so the developer is proposing to add three additional buildings, one of which would be a stand alone restaurant, one of which would be a multi-tennant building, and the third would be a quicker, drive-thru style.” And according to Angell, it’s not just the Arbor Lakes area that’s seeing growth, “Cub Wine & Spirits is now open within the Cub parking lot, it’s their first stand alone liquor store that they have. We also have Pet Suites coming in near the hospital area, Crunch Fitness is open in The Grove, as well as numerous other businesses that we’re really excited to see move forward within the city.” If you have questions about economic development in Maple Grove, contact Economic Development Manager Brett Angell at 763-494-6003 or email him at bangell@maplegrovemn.gov.
