Meet New Osseo City Council Member Nick Torres
Nick Torres had a decision to make, and he says it was made easier by his win in November’s city council election.

New Osseo City Council Member Nick Torres is sworn in at a meeting in January.
“I could put the business in Minneapolis, or I could put it six blocks from my house,” said Torres, a record producer and an attorney who has lived in Osseo since 2016. “If I live here, I want to be engaged. I want to be involved. I encourage everyone in the community to be involved in one way or another.”
Torres said his time so far on council has been a “good kind of busy,” and he looks forward to working together with his fellow council members to find solutions to whatever comes up in the small suburban city of one square mile.
His interest in city council began when he started going to meetings and speaking up about topics he was interested in or concerned about.
“When we, as a community, work on things, we have to first hear the other person out. We may not agree, but at least hear them out. And then, let’s work through it,” said Torres. “A lot of times what’s being said isn’t far from what you’re saying–you’re just talking past each other. So, just get involved.”
