Maple Grove Takes Over Walk to Remember Event
The City of Maple Grove is taking over the Walk to Remember, one year after there was no event which for several years had been run by a non-profit group called Friends of the Angel.
“(Friends of the Angel) have asked the city if we want to be involved and take on the event, and we met as a group and agreed this is really important to the community, so we thought this is something we really want to continue,” said Aimee Peterson, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Maple Grove. “This is being run by our parks and recreation department, working very closely with Friends of the Angel as a volunteer group that helps support the event.”
This year’s walk is Saturday, May 3, with up to four miles to walk around Rice Lake and the Arboretum, originating at the Angel of Hope statue and memorial.
“It’s a great place to come and just reflect and have that peaceful time with your loved one,” said Peterson.
