Maple Grove Police Deputy Chief Helps Department Succeed, Grow
Earlier this year, Maple Grove police added a new leadership position and along with that interview process, the candidate that emerged was longtime officer Andy Sandberg. Sandberg has been a community service officer, a patrol officer, a school resource officer, and a command staff member. Now, he’s the new deputy chief.
“I (got) a good look over the years of each different step and what it really takes to operate at a high level at each step for us,” said Sandberg.
“There was a need in the department to add this layer between the chief and the commanders to help out with the daily operations,” said Chief Eric Werner. “We really provide a high level of service to the community, and this is just another way for us to do that. We can really keep our eye on the ball on how we’re serving Maple Grove, and having someone as qualified as this it’s just going to meet the future needs and just do what we need to do.”
Sandberg helps with operations–daily comings and goings and dealings within the department and its three facilities, with more than 100 total employees.
“It’s making sure all of our people have everything they need in order to serve this great community and be able to do their jobs at a high level each day,” said Sandberg.
