Looking To Get Fit? Osseo Offers Free Fitness Classes
The Osseo Community Center is Pam Neuman’s happy place.
“Here it’s so much fun and the people are wonderful,” said Neuman.
On Mondays and Thursdays from 11:00-11:45, you’ll find her there with a big smile on her face as she stretches, lunges, and lifts weights.

Pam Neuman lifts weights during the strength and balance class at the Osseo Community Center.
“It’s such a great workout. It really is head to toe,” said Neuman.
By the looks of the other 40 or so people in the total-body workout class, she’s not the only one enjoying herself.
The city-sponsored strength and balance class has been going strong for 11 years.
Supervisor Dee Bonn says every age and skill level are welcome.
“A lot of my people that come in, I’ve got several, who can start standing and then have to sit to finish the program,” said Bonn.
All you have to bring is a water bottle.
They’ll provide the weights and encouragement.
“When you reach a certain age, you have to stay active,” said Bonn. “If you are at an age where you’d rather sit down eat lunch in front of the TV and then the other programs come on and you don’t move, you will not move.”
Not only are the strength and balance classes as well as the Yoga class offered on Mondays at 4:30 helping people get healthy, it’s also bringing vitality to Osseo.
“We made the decision not to have it just Osseo people, it is the surrounding area. They are welcome to come in and after class, they are welcome to go get coffee, go get lunch. We are bringing more people into Osseo,” said Bonn.
Pam enjoys visiting Osseo’s downtown after she’s gotten her heart rate up with all the friends she’s made in class.
“I just love it. I really truly do,” she said.
