Golden Valley’s Brookview Golf Offers Outdoor Winter Recreation Options
Brookview Golf and Lawn Bowling in Golden Valley is offering a new outdoor sport this winter: pub curling on its lawn bowling surface.
“It’s not exactly like typical curling where you’re out there on real ice and with brooms,” said Justin Norcutt, the golf operations coordinator. “It’s synthetic ice and it’s kind of a mixture between shuffleboard and curling. You’re standing there on the ends, you’re throwing them down there, you throw all eight stones, and just being outside, it’s just a great activity to be outside enjoying the weather.”
Leagues play is available and lanes can be reserved for a fee.
“It’s really easy to learn, and it’s really fun to play,” said Norcutt. “It’s very family-friendly, and we recommend anybody with any experience to come out and do it.”
Pub curling is in addition to disc golf, which is free and open to anyone.
“We’ve got two 18-hole courses,” said Norcutt. “Two brand-new layouts, and people are loving it.”
There is also a free walking trail available around the 18-hole golf layout that can be used for cross-country skiing, too.
“It’s a way to get people here to experience Brookview and for us to use this beautiful facility that we have,” said Norcutt.
