Golden Valley to Host Police Manual Community Input Sessions
The City of Golden Valley will soon host community input sessions as the police department gets ready to update its manual.
“It’s always important to have community input, for several reasons,” said Scarlett Gonzalez, a former recruiter with the Golden Valley Police Department and now the city’s community connections specialist. “We really need community input to understand from the community’s perspective what is it that the community wants from the police and the police manual.”
The sessions aren’t scheduled yet, but Gonzalez said anyone can email her for more information at scarlettg@goldenvalleymn.gov.
“I will be able to let you know exactly when they’re happening, what the locations are,” she said. “We’re trying to make them accessible to the community, so we are hosting them at several places within Golden Valley so that people have more accessibility and can get to those locations.”
“People have different experiences and their lived experiences are valued and needed to be known so that we can reflect a comprehensive and wholistic police policy that reflects what the community’s needs are,” Gonzalez said.
