Golden Valley Sets First Open House to Gather Input on Civic Center Campus Plan
The City of Golden Valley is working with a consultant on a master plan to redevelop the 14 acres where city hall, public safety, and public works currently are located, and the first of at least two open houses are set to gauge public input on those plans.
The city is hosting the open house on Tuesday, March 3 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Brookview.
“We definitely want to hear from the community how they would use the site,” said Deputy Community Development Director Chloe McGuire. “We know people have spent a lot of time and effort on this already, but we want to solidify that as we come to one final master plan for the campus.”
McGuire said the ultimate goal is to move the public works site to a different location and re-arrange city hall and the public safety department, which includes the police and fire departments.
“The goal for this master planning effort is one document to show where the buildings are going to go in the future so we can build off of that and help plan, financially, for the future,” said McGuire. “I think that’s really exciting, because we’ve always had a ton of different options but we’ve never solidified one option.”
If you can’t come to the open house, city leaders encourage anyone interested to sign up for email updates here.
