Golden Valley Equity and Inclusion Commission Seeks Input on Family Holidays and Traditions
The city of Golden Valley continues the work of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission–and it needs input from the community to broaden its reach.
The city wants to hear from residents about which holidays they and their families traditionally celebrate–and how.
“Not only to raise awareness for other community members, but for that to to be taken into consideration when we’re building out services and programs and initiatives within the city and paying attention to the diversity of those cultures and those spiritualities in the work that we do,” said Seth Kaempfer, the city’s equity and inclusion manager.
Kaempfer said the commission is continuing to take submissions online, with the goal of having residents’ stories about holidays shared on social media in the future.
He also reminded residents about the on-going Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Rights Contest.“(The contest) is to celebrate not only the diversity and inclusion that’s out there in our community, but also to recognize the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” he said.
