Emerald Ash Borer Explosion in New Hope
The emerald ash borer was first found in New Hope in 2019, and since that time, there has been a massive explosion in the emerald ash borer population. Most of the current ash trees show evidence of an infestation, with many experiencing a decline since last year. The city has started marking, removing, and replacing boulevard ash trees and those in city parks, a process that will take several years. Boulevard ash trees will be replaced with young trees chosen by property owners from a list of about a dozen diverse species. For information on emerald ash borer, go to http://www.newhopemn.gov/eab.
