Crystal Hiring Lifeguards for Reopening of Crystal Cove Aquatic Center
When Crystal Cove Aquatic Center reopens later this year after more than a year closed due to a comprehensive reconstruction, it will need 60 employees to help the facility operate–including lifeguards. The city is taking applications now.
“Crystal Cove Aquatic Center has always been a place that feels like home for people that work here, and they come back year after year,” said Crystal Recreation Director John Elholm. “With being closed last year, what happened was some of those lifeguards went to other pools. So we may end up needing to hire more lifeguards than we have in the past.”
Elholm said many young people continue their journey with the community pool after growing up and spending summers there.
“We hire a lot of young adults that work here, and a lot of the time, they are people that have come to the pool swimming themselves, and they want to give back and provide a great opportunity for other young people in our community to come and learn how to swim,” he said.
