Crystal Calls on Residents to Join Boards and Commissions
The city of Crystal is inviting its residents to play an active role in their community by joining various advisory boards and commissions.
The city is looking for people who can dedicate a few hours each month to give valuable insights and advice to the city council on a range of issues.
“The city of Crystal is seeking residents willing to spend a few hours a month helping their community on a board or commission,” said Mike Peterson, Crystal Communications Coordinator. “These volunteers advise the city council on a variety of issues and make a huge positive impact on their neighborhoods.”
Join Advisory Boards and Commissions to Shape the Community
Crystal currently has openings on several advisory bodies, including the Environmental Quality Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Inclusion Diversity Commission, Employee Review Board, and Light Rail Transit.
“Residents attend a meeting which is usually once a month, sometimes as needed, and they basically advise the city council on whatever issue they’re working on,” explained Peterson.
A city council liaison would also be present to ensure the insights and recommendations generated during these advisory meetings are effectively communicated to the council.
Crystal Invites Residents to Make a Difference
For those interested in joining the advisory boards and commissions, Peterson suggests visiting the city’s official website.
“We have links to all the different committees, and then you can learn about each one and maybe find something that suits your interest,” said Peterson.
The city council will review applications later this year and appoint individuals to the appropriate committees.
For more information or to request an application form, individuals can contact the Commissions department.
They can also reach out by phone at 763-531-1131 or visit the city’s website.
