Community Connections: New Name for “Donut Make You Wonder” Event
An event that brings together residents from Brooklyn Center, Crystal, New Hope, and Robbinsdale will have a new name for its new series of speakers–and it will keep the tasty treats that gave it the old moniker.
Donut Make You Wonder is now Community Connections. It happens every third Wednesday from September to November and then January through the beginning of summer at Crystal Community Center. The goal is for anyone who is interested to come out, enjoy a donut and coffee, and listen to a speaker about a specific topic share information with and about the community.
It was very popular for many years.
“Then COVID hit and, as we all know, things just changed,” said City of New Hope Recreation Supervisor Aaron Thelen. “So, it was a good time for us to kind of re-evaluate and look at what we want to do and where we want to focus, and it just felt like a name change to Community Connections to really feel like getting those involved in the community and it’s evolved over time and we just feel like in 2024 we wanted to start off fresh and new and we’re just excited to bring out this program again.”
The first session of the new year is actually on the second Wednesday of September, on September 11th, to coincide with the anniversary of the terror attacks. The speaker that day will talk about the attacks.
