Car Crimes and Police Staffing in Golden Valley
Golden Valley has seen an increase in car-related crimes. The police department’s stats show car thefts went up thirty percent last year. Car jackings have had less of an increase in Golden Valley than in other neighboring cities but the police are still concerned. As car-related crimes have increased, the police department, like many others, is working at a reduced staff level. The department is working to get high quality applicants that are a good fit for the community. To help meet staffing needs, the department has modified the role of its community services officers. Before, CSOs worked primarily in the office. They’re now getting the opportunity to assist in the field with traffic control, parking enforcement, and more.
