Brooklyn Park’s Living Well Resource Fair is Friday, November 15
Brooklyn Park’s Living Well Resource Fair is Friday, November 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Community Activity Center.
“We are hosting this resource fair to help residents live well at all stages and ages of life,” said City of Brooklyn Park Recreation Supervisor Kelly Becker. “We are gearing this resource fair towards older adults, caregivers, individuals with disabilities, anyone who may need resources or seek resources to age well in place.”
There will be dozens of vendors and representatives from a variety of healthcare-related and senior living-related outlets available, along with a slate of speakers, including representatives from the Minnesota Regional Poison Center (to talk about medications, interactions, and storage guidelines), the Alzheimer’s Association, AARP Minnesota (to talk about fraud and identity theft), and a representative from Backup Plan for Solos (to talk about future planning for senior citizens who may not live near family).
“We want to make sure that people can stay in Brooklyn Park as long as they would like to. If that’s within your own home, or if it’s within moving to one of the wonderful senior living communities we have here in Brooklyn Park, we want people to be able to…know that there’s other locations or resources there within in the city,” said Becker.
Additionally, there will be a shredding truck on-site beginning at 9:30 a.m. Those interested in bringing documents they’d like to be properly destroyed can enter from Edenbrook Parkway.
“You can bring any documents you would like to have shredded in a brown paper grocery bag or a box, and you never even have to get out of your vehicle,” said Becker. “You’ll just drive through a line, and we’ll have volunteers out there and you can give them the documents you would like to be shredded.”
