Brooklyn Park’s Edinburgh USA to Host Two Big Golf Events This Season
Brooklyn Park’s city-owned golf course, Edinburgh USA, will host two big events this golf season.
Edinburgh USA will host two big golf events this season in Brooklyn Park.
The course will host a qualifying round for the U.S. Senior Open on May 14.
“We’ve never hosted that,” said Head Golf Pro Don Berry. “Someone playing in that will play in the U.S. Senior Open, which is in Newport, RI this year.”
Berry said most of the competitors will be Minnesotans, as these qualifiers are regional.
“The vast majority will be Minnesotans,” he said. “There will be people from Iowa and Western Wisconsin, but anybody can come here.”
Coming in August
Another event coming to Brooklyn Park for the first time is the Minnesota Women’s Open, August 1st and 2nd.
“There’s so many great kids and college golfers who will be playing. It’ll be the best women golfers in Minnesota,” said Berry. “It’ll be the biggest women’s golf tournament in the state, and I’m sure we’ll have crowds and people watching.”
He said Edinburgh USA is set up well to host events like this.
“When you have organizations like that looking to come here, it shows the golf community really appreciates this course and thinks highly of it and wants to have some of its biggest championships at the golf course,” said Berry.
