Brooklyn Park to Host Honored 2 Help’s Annual Back 2 School BBQ and Backpack Giveaway
The Zanewood Recreation Center and Honored 2 Help are teaming up once again to host the third annual Back 2 School Barbecue, giving students in the community the chance to kick off the new school year in style.
Honored 2 Help’s Back 2 School Barbecue welcomes all individuals, families and children to the free event.
All attendees will get treated to a delicious meal and kids will get a backpack filled with essential school supplies.
“I just love being able to serve the community that I’m from,” stated Clint ‘Scooter’ Draughn, Honored 2 Help. “I’ve been here for 35 years, and it’s just a pleasure to give back to my community.”
A History of Helping
Honored 2 Help’s Back 2 School Barbecue has already made a significant impact in the community over the past two years. The event has fed 3,000 families and distributed nearly 5,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to students.
This year, organizers will expand their efforts to include clothing.
“I just wish we had something like this when I was younger, but I can’t go back to being a kid,” said Draughn. “However, I can serve the kids that are here now, and there’s a lot of families in need.”
Open Invitation for Brooklyn Park Families
Honored 2 Help’s Back 2 School Barbecue will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Zanewood Recreation Center.
The event is running on a first-come, first-served basis, so families are encouraged to register online in advance.
