Brooklyn Park Fire Station Two Construction Enters “Exciting” Phase
The walls of Brooklyn Park Fire Station #2 are starting to go up along Zane Avenue North.
“It’s amazing,” said Fire Chief Shawn Conway. “That’s an exciting place to be because you’re going to start to see things move pretty quickly.”
Conway said the plan remains for the department to move its staff and equipment into the new building in April 2027.
“We’re not just growing with stations and infrastructure, but capability, staffing, how we’re serving the community, and that really is the pillar of what we’re doing here,” Conway said. “We’re not just building a fire station. It’s what are we doing to serve the community at the highest level to identify the risks that are there and to assist and mitigate in those risks.”
Conway said the grander plans are to have five fire stations serving the growing city, which is poised to see new development in the northwest corner, along the proposed Blue Line light rail extension, and with the city’s goals of expanding it’s biotech district.
“That will assist us in responding to all aspects or corners of the city, if you will, 26.2 square miles within a five-minute time frame,” he said.
