Blue Line Extension in Robbinsdale
Planning continues for the METRO Blue Line light rail extension. The proposed plan includes running light rail tracks down the center of County Road 81 as it travels through Robbinsdale. Figuring out how to add the tracks in such a narrow area is an engineering challenge. Some options include removing a couple right turn lanes, narrowing driving lanes, or even elevating the train. Hennepin County and the Met Council have issued a draft route modification report to make sure the project’s goals are still being met.
