Annual Osseo Lions Roar Coming Soon on Sept. 8 and 9
The Osseo Lions Roar celebration brings together the community of Osseo each fall. The Osseo Lions organize the annual event.
“It’s just a city celebration to celebrate all the work we do with the Lions and also the city of Osseo,” explained Richard Troska, Osseo Lions Treasurer.
Mission of Preserving Vision
The Osseo Lions are especially devoted to issues around sight and preventing avoidable blindness. With this in mind, Lions Roar includes a screening event.
“We have a kids’ sight program where we screen kids from six months old to 16,” Troska said. “A big part of our organization is doing things for the blind and [around] sight.”
Of note, Lion’s Roar is the largest fundraiser the Osseo Lions Club organizes, but the chapter is active the rest of the calendar.
“We have events throughout the year where we we try to get new people involved with the Lions or [to] volunteer,” said Troska.
Enjoy Osseo Lions Roar
This year, the family-friendly, two-day festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8 and 9. Lions Roar attendees will find a variety of activities, including a parade, car show, 5K run/walk, carnival, live music, and food and drink vendors. Lions Roar is free to attend, but expect a fee for some of the activities.
Additionally, the Osseo Lions held a contest this year for the first time to determine the design of the 2023 Lions Roar t-shirt.
“Normally in the past, we’d have one of our Lions design it. This year we’re going to put it up to the public,” explained Troska.
Running the event requires a great deal of help from the community.
“That’s our big thing is bringing in community members to help volunteer and pull this event off, because it is a pretty large event,” said Troska.
