Cost for Memberships Drops at Brooklyn Center Community Center
Brooklyn Center city leaders recently approved a forty-percent drop in Brooklyn Center residents’ membership fees for the community center, and already they’re seeing more people sign up to use the fitness center and swimming pool.
“This isn’t something that happens often, but this is something that our parks and rec teams has been working on this for several years,” said Joe Cardoza, communications manager for the city. “Ultimately we wanted our residents to come and be there most fit and healthy selves.”
In addition to lower rates, the city is also offering kickboxing and pilates classes for members.
“Each year, our parks and rec team takes feedback from members to make sure we’re providing and catering to their needs,” said Cardoza.
Staff at the community center say the tactic may be working: in January 2023, there were 78 new memberships. In January 2024, it’s more than 200.
