Teenage Boy Drowns in New Hope Apartment Pool
Law enforcement officials say a teenage boy drowned in a New Hope apartment complex pool in Wednesday evening, Sept. 4.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol and the New Hope Police Department were dispatched at approximately 7 p.m. to Parkridge Way Apartments on a report of a drowning.
Arriving officers found an unresponsive 13-year-old boy and began performing CPR. The boy was transported to North Memorial Hospital, where medical officials pronounced him dead.
Investigators believe that the boy entered the pool alone, and was under water for about a half hour.
Bystanders saw the boy in the pool, removed him and called 911.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is conducting and investigation into the incident.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends,” wrote a spokesperson for the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy’s name has not yet been released.
