Wayzata Post 118 Drops First Game at Gopher Classic Legion Tournament
Waconia scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Wayzata 4-2 Friday morning in the opening game of pool play of the Gopher Classic American Legion baseball tournament.
Post 118 scored in the first and sixth innings for their only runs of the game.
Jake Bach’s run-scoring single in the eighth inning gave Waconia the lead for good.
Each team competes in pool play through Saturday with the 16 pool champions advancing to bracket play on Sunday and the tournament champion crowned Monday afternoon in Shakopee.
Wayzata is one of a handful of local CCX teams playing in this year’s Gopher Classic.
