Wayzata Legion Baseball Falls to Elk River in Substate Opener

The Wayzata Post 118 American Legion baseball team lost 5-2 to Elk River in the opening round of Substate 10 play Wednesday afternoon in Maple Grove.

Wayzata scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, with Maverick Kuhl’s RBI single starting the scoring.

The Wizards though didn’t score again against Elk River’s Logan O’Brien, who pitched a complete game.

Elk River took the lead for good 3-2 in the third on Lincoln Trushenski’s two-run single.

Trushenski added an RBI double in the sixth as Elk River sent Wayzata into the loser’s bracket.
