Wayzata Football Falls Short Against #1 Moorhead

3:48 PM | Monday, September 28, 2026

The Wayzata football team couldn’t keep up against the high-powered Moorhead offense, losing their first game of the season, 41-22.

The Trojans put together a perfect first drive of the game, eating up over nine minutes of clock and scoring a touchdown on a three-yard Thor Soukup run.

Moorhead answered back with their pass-heavy offense. Jett Feeney threw two touchdown passes before halftime to give the Spuds their first lead.

The Trojans scored two touchdowns in the second half – a 29-yard touchdown catch by Wes Moeller and a 16-yard run by Gustavo Vahk-Lopez.

The Spuds couldn’t be slowed down on offense though. Feeney ending up throwing for 383 yards and six touchdowns.
