Maple Grove Flag Football Enjoys First Year Success
The emerging sport of girls high school flag football found a home in Maple Grove this spring. The Crimson had 70 players compete on varsity and junior varsity in the program’s first season.
Maple Grove won its district before losing in the playoffs to Minnetonka.
Most of the team’s players compete in another high school sport at Maple Grove. The Crimson limited practices and games to only Sundays but are open to expanding that next season.
Rosemount won the state championship, beating Rogers in the title game. 104 schools offered flag football to girls this spring, more than double the number from 2025.
