Teenager Killed in Brooklyn Park Shooting

A shooting at Brooklyn Park’s Hartkopf Park Sunday night killed a 16-year-old boy, police said.

Brooklyn Park police said they responded to the shooting at the park along Florida Avenue North at approximately 10:46 p.m. When officers arrived, they began lifesaving measures on the victim. However, their efforts were unsuccessful and the boy died at the scene.

Police continued their investigation at the park Monday morning with the help of a K9 unit.

A police spokesman declined to provide any details regarding the circumstances of the shooting or whether they have identified any suspects.

Investigators from Brooklyn Park are actively working the case with assistance from Hennepin County crime scene investigators.
