Runner Attacked on Trail in Maple Grove
Maple Grove police are asking for the public’s help searching for a suspect in an attempted sexual assault.
The incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Police say a woman was jogging near Rice Lake on a trail that runs under I-94 when a man grabbed her from behind and tackled her.
She struggled and was able to escape, police said.
The victim called law enforcement, who launched a ground and drone search for the man.
However, police said the search was not successful.

The victim sustained minor injuries in the attack. She was treated at a local hospital and discharged.
According to police, the attacker was about 30 years old and was wearing a black hat, a black or grey coat, a hooded sweatshirt, black pants and shiny black gloves. His height was between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet and 10 inches tall.
The Maple Grove Police Department is asking residents that live in the area to check their doorbell and security cameras for suspicious individuals walking the neighborhood between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Police patrols have been increased in the neighborhood in response to the incident.
